Doing it my way. . .
Crochet is a beautiful craft that requires basic stitches easily learned from books, video tutorials, in a class, and from one generation to another. I learned from a DVD purchased online various easy stitches to make scarves.
I purchased an easy pattern written with abbreviations of the stitches used for the scarf.
I begin with a style in mind. My colors of yarn and fibers are gathered as shown.
With crochet hook in hand and fiber/yarn in the other, I start my project with a basic stitch. Depending on the fiber thickness, my crochet hook size is determined.
Most fibers or yarn are labeled to indicate recommended hook size, and it includes weight of the yarn. In certain stitches and appearance of a stitch, the type of yarn is chosen according to the project’s intended use.
Clothing requires a fabric that drapes well, while a table cloth does not. A hood fabric may be thick or thin, depending on the climate where it is worn. Fur fibers are ideal for hoods, but on a table cloth it is impractical.
What about fur fibers?
